Privacy

SafeAI-Aus is operated by Safe AI Australia Inc, an incorporated not-for-profit association. This page explains the information-handling practices for the SafeAI-Aus website, newsletter and community inbox. You can read the public website without creating an account or telling us who you are.

Information we handle

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your name. We use this information to manage your subscription and send SafeAI-Aus updates through our Listmonk newsletter service. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or contact us to ask that your subscription information be corrected or deleted.

If you email us or submit a public GitHub issue, we receive the information you include. We use it to respond, investigate corrections and manage community contributions. GitHub issues and contributions are public and are also handled under GitHub's own privacy terms, so do not include confidential or sensitive personal information in them.

Website analytics and hosting

The site uses Umami Cloud to understand aggregate use, such as page views, referrer URLs, browser and device types, and approximate country. Umami states that its standard tracker uses no cookies, does not track people across websites and does not collect personally identifiable information. Analytics processing may occur in the United States or European Union. We do not use the analytics data to build advertising profiles.

The website is hosted by GitHub Pages. Like most hosting services, GitHub and network providers may process technical request information needed to deliver and secure the site. Links to third-party websites are governed by those providers' privacy practices.

Use, disclosure, security and retention

We use personal information for the purpose for which it was provided: delivering a requested newsletter, responding to an enquiry, maintaining the site or protecting the service. We may use service providers to perform those functions and may disclose information where required by law. We do not sell personal information.

We limit access to subscription and correspondence records to people who need it for those purposes and retain records only for as long as reasonably needed for administration, security, legal or community-accountability purposes. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is necessary and you have agreed on an appropriate channel with us.

Access, correction and privacy concerns

To ask what personal information we hold about you, request access or correction, withdraw from the newsletter, or raise a privacy concern, email contact@safeaiaus.org. Please provide enough detail for us to identify the relevant interaction. We will acknowledge the request and work with you on a reasonable response.
